Terms of Service
Effective Date: July 23, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the DuoFaith mobile application ("the App"), developed by Luke Downie ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
Use of the App
DuoFaith is a faith-based productivity app that uses Apple's Screen Time API to shield selected apps until you complete a short daily Bible devotional. The App is provided for personal, non-commercial use.
You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws and Apple's usage terms.
Screen Time Authorization
The App requires your authorization to use Apple's Family Controls and Managed Settings frameworks to shield and unshield apps. You may revoke this authorization at any time through your device's Settings. Revoking authorization will prevent the App from shielding apps but will not affect your devotional progress.
Content
The App includes Bible passages and devotional prompts for personal reflection. This content is provided for spiritual encouragement and is not a substitute for professional counseling, therapy, or medical advice.
Accounts and Data
DuoFaith does not require you to create an account with an email address or password. Core app data (your name, devotional progress, lock time settings) is stored locally on your device. We are not responsible for data loss resulting from device failure, App deletion, or operating system updates.
If you use Couples Mode (a Pro feature), the App creates an anonymous session to sync data between you and your partner via a secure server. No personal account credentials are involved. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data is transmitted.
Subscriptions and Purchases
DuoFaith offers a free tier and optional paid subscriptions ("DuoFaith Pro") through Apple's App Store. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to Apple's terms for in-app purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Settings under Subscriptions.
- No refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription period. Refund requests should be directed to Apple.
Couples Mode
Couples Mode allows two users to pair via an invite code and track shared devotional progress. By using Couples Mode, you agree that limited data (anonymous identifiers, completion records, and nudge notifications) will be transmitted to our server to enable the feature. You may unpair or delete your data at any time from within the App.
You are responsible for sharing your invite code only with your intended partner. We are not liable for any issues arising from codes shared with unintended recipients.
Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, and original content, is the property of Luke Downie. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the App.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all devices or operating system versions.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luke Downie shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to missed notifications, app-shielding failures, or data loss.
Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device. If you have an active subscription, uninstalling does not cancel it — you must cancel through your device's Settings. We reserve the right to discontinue the App at any time without notice.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.
