Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the DuoFaith mobile application ("the App"), developed by Luke Downie ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

Use of the App

DuoFaith is a faith-based productivity app that uses Apple's Screen Time API to shield selected apps until you complete a short daily Bible devotional. The App is provided for personal, non-commercial use.

You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose, and in compliance with all applicable laws and with Apple's own terms.

Screen Time Authorization

The App requires your authorization to use Apple's Family Controls and Managed Settings frameworks in order to shield and unshield apps. You may revoke this authorization at any time in your device's Settings. Revoking it will stop the App from shielding apps but will not affect your devotional progress.

DuoFaith is not a security product or a parental control product. Shielding depends on Apple's frameworks and on your device, it can be disabled by anyone who knows your device passcode, and it may fail after an operating system update. Do not rely on it in any situation where a failure to shield would cause you harm.

Content

The App includes Bible passages and devotional prompts for personal reflection. This content is offered for spiritual encouragement. It is not counselling, therapy or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.

Devotionals are delivered from our servers and cached on your device. We may add to, edit or withdraw content at any time, and we do not guarantee that content will be available for any particular date.

Your Anonymous Account

DuoFaith does not ask you to create an account with an email address or password. The first time you open the App, it creates an anonymous account on our server so that daily devotionals, access codes and Couples Mode can work. No credentials are involved. Your name, your lock time and your progress are stored on your device rather than with us. See our Privacy Policy for the detail of what is transmitted.

Because the account is anonymous, it lives only on the device that created it. We cannot move your progress, your streak or your Pro access to a new device, we cannot restore them after the App is deleted, and we cannot identify your account if you contact us. Deleting the App is a clean break by design. We are not responsible for data loss resulting from device failure, deletion of the App, or operating system updates.

Subscriptions and Purchases

DuoFaith is free to download and requires a paid subscription ("DuoFaith Pro") to use, sold through Apple's App Store. There is no free tier. New users begin with a 3-day free trial, after which the subscription is $10 per month or $50 per year. One subscription covers every feature, including Couples Mode. By purchasing a subscription you also agree to Apple's terms for in-app purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Where a free trial is offered, its length is shown on the purchase screen before you buy. A trial converts into a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel a subscription in your device's Settings under Subscriptions. We cannot cancel it on your behalf.
Prices may change. Any change applies from your next renewal, and Apple will ask you to confirm before charging a higher price.
No refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription period. Refunds are handled by Apple, so refund requests should be directed to Apple.

Access Codes

We sometimes issue access codes that unlock Pro without a purchase, for example to reviewers, testers and creators we are working with. Access codes:

Are single use, and stop working once redeemed
Are personal to the person we issued them to, and may not be sold, published or transferred
Unlock Pro on the device that redeems them and do not move to a new device
May be withdrawn at any time, including where a code has been shared publicly or used in a way we did not intend

An access code is not a purchase and carries no right to a refund.

Couples Mode

Couples Mode is a Pro feature that lets two people pair using an invite code, share written answers to daily reflection questions, and build a shared reflection streak. To provide this feature, app account identifiers, display names, reflection answers, completion dates, notification records, and the shared streak are transmitted to our server. Your partner can read your reflection after both of you have submitted an answer. Each person’s selected apps unlock after their own devotional; app unlocking does not depend on the partner finishing.

Invite codes expire 24 hours after they are generated. You are responsible for sharing your code only with the person you intend to pair with, and we are not liable for issues arising from a code shared with someone else. You may unpair, or delete your data entirely, at any time from within the App.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, devotional writing and other original content, is the property of Luke Downie. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from the App. Bible passages are quoted from the World English Bible, a public domain translation.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, that shielding will always work, or that the App will be compatible with all devices and operating system versions.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luke Downie shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. This includes but is not limited to missed notifications, failures to shield or unshield apps, loss of a streak, and loss of data. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. If you have an active subscription, uninstalling does not cancel it: you must cancel through your device's Settings. We reserve the right to discontinue the App, or to withdraw access granted by an access code, at any time without notice.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.
